Ron · Terms of Service

By adding Ron to a Discord server, or by using a server that Ron protects, you agree to these Terms of Service and to Ron's Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not add or use Ron.

These terms apply to the Ron bot only. Other Merithic products and the Merithic website are governed by the main Merithic Terms of Service.

Ron scans messages and uploaded images for scams and other prohibited content using automated and AI-assisted classification. On a detection, Ron may delete the offending message, time out (mute) the user for up to 28 days, and alert your staff with actions to ban the user or clear the flag.

Ron maintains a cross-server blocklist of users that staff have confirmed as scammers, so that a confirmed scammer can be recognized across every server Ron protects.

Ron requires the Moderate Members, Manage Messages, and Ban Members permissions, and its role must be positioned above the members it moderates. Ron cannot act on members whose role is higher than its own.

No Guarantee: Ron uses automated detection that can make mistakes. It may miss real scams (false negatives) or flag legitimate content (false positives). Ron is provided as a tool to assist human moderators, not as a guaranteed or infallible service.

Human Confirmation: Ron does not permanently ban a user or add anyone to the cross-server blocklist automatically. A ban or blocklist entry occurs only when a server moderator confirms it. Detections are otherwise limited to reversible actions such as deleting a message and applying a temporary timeout.

Your Responsibility: You are responsible for the moderation decisions your staff make using Ron, including bans and blocklist confirmations, and for configuring Ron appropriately for your server (for example, whitelisting channels where advertising is allowed).

You may not use Ron to harass, target, or defame individuals, or to add users to the blocklist in bad faith or for reasons unrelated to genuine scam or prohibited-content activity.

You may not attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or circumvent Ron, its filters, or its rate limits, or use Ron in violation of Discord's Terms of Service or Community Guidelines.

We may remove Ron from any server, or restrict access, at our discretion where these terms or Discord's policies are violated, or where Ron is being abused.

Ron is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, and Ron may be unavailable during maintenance, outages, or issues with Discord or third-party providers.

We may add, change, or remove Ron's features at any time. Ron currently relies on a third-party AI provider for classification, and its behaviour may change if that provider changes.

Ron is currently offered free of charge. We reserve the right to introduce paid features or plans in the future, which would be described before they apply.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Merithic is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Ron, including but not limited to missed scams, wrongful flags, mistaken bans, lost messages, or moderation outcomes.

Ron assists moderation but does not replace your own judgment or your server's rules and safety practices. You use Ron at your own risk.

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes are posted at this URL, and continued use of Ron after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
