Ron · Privacy Policy
1. What Ron Is
Ron is an anti-scam moderation bot for Discord, operated by Merithic. When added to a server, Ron scans messages and uploaded images for scams and other prohibited content, and helps staff act on them. This policy explains what data Ron processes and why.
This policy applies only to the Ron bot. Use of the Merithic website and other Merithic products is governed by the main Merithic Privacy Policy.
2. Information Ron Processes
Message & Image Content: To detect scams and prohibited content, Ron reads the text of messages and the images posted in channels it can see. Message text and image URLs may be sent to our AI moderation provider for classification. Content that is not flagged is used only for that check and is not retained by Ron.
Detection & Evidence Records: When a scam is detected, Ron records the offending user's Discord ID, a short reason, a link to the flagged message or image as evidence, the server ID where it occurred, and whether it was actioned. This is kept so staff can review the alert and so confirmed scammers can be recognized.
Blocklist Data: When your server's staff confirm a scammer (by choosing Ban or Add to database), that user's Discord ID, last-seen username, reason, category, and evidence link are added to a cross-server blocklist shared across every server Ron protects. See Section 4.
Server Settings: Ron stores each server's configuration (the log channel, staff ping role, enforcement mode, and any whitelisted users, roles, or ignored channels) so it behaves the way that server chose.
Operational Counts: Ron keeps simple totals such as the number of servers it is in and the number of scammers banned, used for its status and public statistics. These contain no personal information.
3. How Ron Uses This Information
Message and image content is used solely to determine whether a post is a scam or otherwise prohibited. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond moderation.
Detection records and the blocklist are used to enforce moderation, alert staff, and recognize known scammers across servers.
Ron never sells or rents any data, and does not share it with third parties except the AI moderation provider described in Section 5.
4. The Cross-Server Blocklist
What It Is: The blocklist is a shared list of Discord user IDs that server staff have confirmed as scammers. A user is only added to it when a human moderator clicks Ban or Add to database on an alert; never automatically by the AI alone.
How It's Used: When a user on the blocklist posts in any server Ron protects, Ron flags them for that server's staff to act on. A single server's confirmation therefore helps protect every other server.
Removal: If you believe a user was listed in error, server staff can clear the detection at the time, and you may contact us (Section 8) to request removal of a blocklist entry.
5. Third-Party Services
AI Moderation Provider: Ron sends message text and image URLs to a third-party AI provider (tomdacat AI) to classify whether content is a scam or NSFW. That provider processes the content to return a result; your use of Ron is also subject to that provider's terms. Ron only sends content that has already tripped a local filter, to minimize what is transmitted.
Discord: Ron operates within Discord and is subject to Discord's Developer Terms and Policies. Ron uses the Message Content and Server Members intents to read messages and identify members for the features above.
Data Storage: Detection records, the blocklist, and server settings are stored on our own self-hosted servers and are not shared with any third-party hosting or database provider.
6. Data Retention
Message and image content that is not flagged is not retained; it is used only for the moderation check and then discarded.
Detection records and blocklist entries may be retained for as long as needed to enforce moderation and recognize known scammers, including indefinitely for confirmed scammers, similar to a ban list.
Server settings are retained while Ron is in the server and may be removed after Ron is removed from it.
7. Your Choices
Server Owners: You control Ron's behaviour with the /settings command, including whitelisting users, roles, and channels that Ron will ignore, and choosing the enforcement mode. Removing Ron from your server stops all scanning there.
Members: If you are muted or listed in error, contact the server's staff, who can clear it, or contact us to request review or removal of a blocklist entry.
Children's Privacy: Ron is intended for use within Discord in accordance with Discord's minimum age requirements. Ron does not knowingly collect information from anyone below that age beyond what is necessary to moderate the servers it is in.
8. Contact & Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are posted at this URL. Continued use of Ron after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
